RESIDENTIAL LIVING

Providing a range of services and supports, including training and counseling, to enable individuals to develop to their fullest potential and to live as independently as possible in the community.



SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING (SIL)



LIFESKILLS (Community Connections):

Providing services and supports to enable people with developmental handicaps to:


(a) develop life skills

(b) be integrated into the community

(c) have leisure and recreational opportunities.



SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT:

Providing minimum support services to individuals and/or employers to enable individuals to be competitively employed in the community.

CLNH runs two unique training and employment initiatives that both offer people with developmental disabilities meaningful employment:

Copy_of_pix_002.jpgHorizon Packaging provides packaging/collating services and has approximately 60 people working in 2 locations:  Milton and Georgetown.

The Lunchbox Cafe

Located at 917 Nipissing Rd. in Milton, the cafe is open to the public between 7am-6pm Monday to Friday.

Recreational Programs:

AFTER SCHOOL RESPITE (5-21 yrs)

Providing quality after school care to children and young adults with disabilities in a relaxing and stimulating environment. 

  • September through June 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday on regular Halton School Boards’ school days
  • Activities for 5 – 21 year olds $40 a day (dinner included)
  • Locations accessible to Milton and Georgetown families
  • Games, crafts, community activities, theme activities, baking, painting, sports, outdoor walks
  • Program is coordinated according to the interests and abilities of the participants
  • Limited spaces available

 

SATURDAY CENTRE (5-21 yrs)

  • Programs in both Milton and Georgetown
  • September to June, twice per month (5 ½ hours per Saturday)
  • Junior and Senior programs
  •  Activities available at the program location (movies, music, games, sports, crafts, etc.)
  • Community events and activities (swimming, bowling, attending community events)
  • Calendar of activities is coordinated according to the interests and abilities of the participants
  • Limited spaces available

 

FRIDAY FRIENDS (21-35 yrs)

An enjoyable program created especially for young adults with developmental disabilities to participate in social activities and develop friendships in a fun and supportive environment.

  • Programs in both Milton and Georgetown
  • 5pm-9pm, twice per month
  • Open to participants between the ages of 18 and 30 years
  • Dinner provided each week ($10.00)
  • Activities available at the program location (movies, music, games, sports, dances, etc.)
  • Community events and activities (bowling, movies, mini golf, community events, etc.)
  • Calendar of activities is coordinated with input of the participants



DROP-IN CENTRE (30 yrs+)

An opportunity for Adults with developmental disabilities to gather in an informal, supportive, and friendly atmosphere to enjoy a variety of

recreational activities and social opportunities.

  • Year round program
  • Georgetown and Milton locations
  • Movies, games, crafts, music, coffee time, etc.
  • $25 twice per year
  • 30 years of age and older
This program provides opportunities for school aged children and youth, with developmental disabilities to participate in an enjoyable and friendly recreation program, and respite for their families.
